Recreation & Tennis Center
(2701 Cypress Point Drive)
Registration will begin in August. Fort Bend County Extension Agent in conjunction with Missouri City Green, Missouri City Parks and Recreation and Fort Bend Master Gardeners, will present a workshop on installing a rainwater harvesting system for the backyard of a family home. Rainwater harvesting focuses on capturing rainwater from your roof and diverting it to irrigate plants and vegetables. As part of the workshop, each participant will receive a rain barrel to take home with instructions on how to correctly install a backyard rainwater harvesting system. |
In Texas, over 30% of the water we use goes to outdoor irrigation. When we use rainwater to water our landscape, gardens and container plants, we conserve our drinking water and save money on our water bill. Rainwater is not only free, it's salt-free and a good source of water for all of our plants. The easiest way to begin harvesting rainwater for your home is to collect rainwater from your roof and store it in rain barrels.
