Missouri City Green Update

OUR COMMUNITY EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

Following guidance from the City of Missouri City, our community events have been cancelled/postponed 
 as part of our response to the COVID19 pandemic.

Depending on how things progress over the next few months, we plan to reschedule events starting in October.

We will keep our website and Facebook page updated as more information becomes available.

​Golden Tree Award Winner - H-E-B

​Congratulations to our most recent Golden Tree Award winner H-E-B!    H-E-B is receiving this award because of both the local Missouri City stores and Corporate's continued commitment to keeping Missouri City and Texas beautiful.  This is the second time that H-E-B has received the Golden Tree award in the last five years.

H-E-B has supported multiple events in Missouri City including, but not limited to:
  • Backyard Composting Workshop
  • Don't Mess With Texas Trash Off
  • Edible Earth Fest
  • Tree Planting Competition

In 2019, as a company, H-E-B diverted more than 486 million pounds of waste from landfills by recycling materials including cardboard, plastics, office paper, food waste, metals and truck tires. H-E-B continues to invest in energy efficient LED lighting and higher efficiency refrigeration and HVAC equipment for their stores and facilities.

​Missouri City's 2019​ Volunteer of the Year

Established in 2014, The Municipal Volunteer Program (MVP), the mission of the program is to facilitate citizen partnerships between City departments and talented volunteers within the community through the assistance of a wide variety of volunteer activities and projects. 

At the January 21st, 2020 City Council Meeting, Margo Webb's volunteer efforts to keep Missouri City clean, green and beautiful were recognized as she was named 2019 Municipal Volunteer of the year.  Margo was also a finalist in 2018, having received the Ebony Ghee Parks Board award as that department's MVP of the year nominee.

Missouri City Green awarded Gold Star Status.....again!

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement organization, recently named Missouri City Green,  a Gold Star Affiliate for 2020.  This is the sixth straight year Missouri City Green has earned the honor. Gold Star recognition is the highest membership recognition status any community affiliate can achieve.

In 2019 alone, KTB affiliates engaged 71,586 volunteers who contributed 351,953 hours to collect 4 million pounds of waste and recyclables and clean 16,212 miles of Texas roadway, trails and waterways. Missouri City Green successfully implemented programs to clean up litter, reduce and recycle waste, educate local citizens and beautify and enhance the local community.
