Adopt-A-Spot Safety Tips and Waiver
Below is a list of recommendations to make sure your clean-up experience is safe!

- Wear gloves or use grabbers (provided)
- Wear safety vests and or bright-colored clothing for cleanup.
- Drink plenty of fluids (coupon for water may be provided)
- Wear thick-soled, closed-toe shoes
- Wear long pants and long sleeve shirts
- Wear sunscreen and bug repellant
- Use the “buddy system” work in teams to maximize safety
- Keep pre-moistened “towelettes” on hand
- Wash hands with antibacterial soap after the cleanup
- Be aware of your surroundings and potential hazards (passing cars, hazardous tree
branches, poison ivy, snakes etc.) - Know emergency procedures, such as the location of the nearest emergency facility and
how to summon an ambulance or the police - Have a first-aid kit on hand at all times. It’s suggested that one or two of the volunteers should be familiar with CPR and general first-aid techniques in case of emergency.
- Pick up hazardous materials such as hypodermic needles, sharp objects, old car batteries, animal carcasses, or any other unidentified or questionable object
- Attempt to move large objects...report this information to event staff
- Allow minor children to participate in clean-ups, unless supervised by an adult
- Perform any activities outside of your physical capabilities
- Use power tools and/ or motor driven equipment
- Conduct clean-ups near or around construction sites
- Schedule clean-ups during peak pedestrian or traffic hours
- Conduct clean-ups during inclement weather
Adopt-A-Spot Group/Organization HEREBY RELEASES, WAIVES, DISCHARGES, AND COVENANTS NOT TO SUE, AND AGREES TO HOLD HARMLESS for any and all purposes Missouri City Green, its officers, board members, volunteers and assigns (herein referred to as “RELEASEES”) FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, OR INJURY, INCLUDING DEATH, that may be sustained by Group during, as a result of or arising from my participation in and/or access to the Adopt-A-Spot Program, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE.
Adopt-A-Spot Group/Organization will be solely responsible for insuring your own property, equipment, automotive and any/all other legal liability. In no way will the City of Missouri City and Missouri City Green be required or expected to maintain any insurance coverage for you, your group, or its volunteer members.
