Over 60 volunteers of all ages participated in Missouri City's Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off, part of the largest one day cleanup event in the State of Texas. The event was a huge success with volunteers from across the city gathering to remove litter from Missouri City's parks. Missouri City Green and MC Parks and Recreation partnered together to host the event for the 9th consecutive year. Volunteers were treated to pizza and awards at the Missouri City Community Center. |

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Missouri City Green volunteers, the City of Missouri City, Missouri City Parks & Recreation Deptment and CompuCycle (R2 Certified Recycler) our 9th Annual Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday March 19th was a HUGE success. Over 400 people drove through the line to recycle unwanted, outdated and broken electronics. Donated items will be refurbished, where possible, or broken down so that their valuable component parts can be put back into the manufacturing process. Thank you to those who generously donated toward future community clean up events. |

Over 60 homeowners attended the pop-up native plant workshop and plant sale at the Missouri City Farmers Market on March 5th. Missouri City Green and Fort Bend Master Gardeners provided information and answered questions on native plants and beautifying your yard with them. The workshop explained how growing native plants helps local wildlife and our planet by reducing water, fertilizer and pesticide use. |

Over fifty children made bird feeders at craft tables hosted by volunteers of Missouri City Green at the Snowfest Holiday Market at Missouri City Community Center. |

Thirty six people, including nine children, attended Missouri City Green's Worm Composting Workshop. Composting specialist Sam Guardiola from Fort Bend Master Gardeners taught participants how to set up and maintain a healthy worm composting system. Participants had fun creating their own bin full of wriggling worms to take home! This event was hosted by Missouri City Green with support from Missouri City Parks & Recreation. |

Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement organization, recently named Missouri City Green, a Gold Star Affiliate for 2022. This is the seventh straight year Missouri City Green has earned the honor. Gold Star recognition is the highest membership recognition status any community affiliate can achieve. In 2021 alone, KTB affiliates engaged 41,550 volunteers who contributed 190,094 hours to collect 3.25 million pounds of waste and recyclables from Texas roadways, trails, and waterways. Missouri City Green successfully implemented programs to clean up litter, reduce and recycle waste, educate local citizens, and beautify and enhance the local community. |
